It's been a massive year here at The Remnant Warehouse. In a year full of natural disasters, global pandemics and lock downs periods, we've worked hard to make sure that fabrics and supplies were there for those in need.

In the height of the bushfires, we were selling out of soft flannelette, 100% cotton drills and other cottons for those making pouches for injured wildlife. We donated hundreds of metres ourselves, along with a $5000 donation to the Red Cross Bush Fire Appeal. Many of our staff members also joined in making pouches for injured wildlife.

Just as the smoke was clearing from the fires, COVID-19 was changing the way we lived and worked and we suddenly had customers from all over the world exhausting our supplies of cotton fabrics and elastic. We were one of the few suppliers in Australia who were able to continually supply elastic, and we were also heavily supplying New Zealand and the USA.

We were absolutely blown away and so proud to be part of the sewing community during these trying times throughout the year. We saw streams of customers who were selflessly donating their time to make supplies for others who were in need. Whether it was animal pouches, face masks, scrubs, hospital gowns and a variety of other projects, the generosity was endless.

It is at this point that I would like to thank my staff for their tireless efforts this year under challenging circumstances. While the world was slowing down, we were working around the clock to get our orders out the door as fast as we could. With our doors closed to the public, the days were longer and a monotonous cycle of locating, measuring, cutting, folding and returning to the stands on repeat without the normal interaction with customers that we love and that brightens our day. No one was able to take time off, and many of us had to forfeit milestone holidays that had been years in the making.

It is for this reason that I have decided this year not to have our staff come in to process orders during the Christmas and New Year period. We will all be taking a well earned break while our shop is closed.

On behalf of myself and the whole team, I wanted to thank all our customers for their continued support this year, for their generous spirit in helping others and for making a conscious decision to support a small family business.

Best wishes for the holiday!
